Making selections in Photoshop Assignment
Copy this photo of a balloon. Open Photoshop. Click File > new, then Edit > paste.
Follow the instructions below. Work with a partner, each of you doing your own work. When you are done, use this rubric to grade each other. Print and turn in the rubric to the folder on your teacher's desk.
When you are done you will have 7 layers, including the background layer. Save the Photoshop file in your Photoshop folder. File name = selections.
Common shortcuts: Make sure you know these!
CTRL C = copy
CTRL V = paste
CTRL S = save
CTRL D = deselect
CTRL J = make a new layer out of your selection
CTRL + = zoom in
CTRL - = zoom out
Hold down SPACEBAR while dragging mouse to move around your image
Assignment Instructions
Make a selection with the:
- Marquee tool, put the selection on a new layer (CTRL J) Name the layer Marquee. Deselect, click on the background layer.
- Quick Selection tool, add to, or subtract from the selection as necessary, put the selection on a new layer (CTRL J) Name the layer Quick Selection. Deselect, click on the background layer.
- Magic wand, add to, or subtract from the selection as necessary, put the selection on a new layer (CTRL J) Name the layer magic wand.Deselect, click on the background layer.
- Lasso, add to, or subtract from the selection as necessary,put the selection on a new layer (CTRL J) Name the layer Lasso.Deselect, click on the background layer.
- Polygonal Lasso tool, add to, or subtract from the selection as necessary,put the selection on a new layer (CTRL J) Name the layer Polygonal Lasso. Deselect, click on the background layer.
- Magnetic lasso tool ,add to, or subtract from the selection as necessary, put the selection on a new layer (CTRL J) Name the layer Magnetic. Deselect, click on the background layer.
